Rudraksh : Introduction

Rudraksh is formed by association of two words, 'RUDRA' and 'AKSHA'. Rudra is the name of Lord Shiva. Aksha means 'Eye'. It is said that the plant of Rudraksh is originated from the tear drops of Lord Shiva. As per the veidik scriptures Rudraksh can nullify the effects of malefic planets to a great extent. Shastras say Rudraksh of any mukhis can never do any harm to the wearer unlike Navratnas, which have to be carefully chosen. No other necklace or bead is so auspicious and powerful as Rudraksh.

Rudraksh come in different mukhis or the clefts or furrows on the surface. Shastras speak of 1 to 38 mukhis but normally 1 to 9 mukhis are used for astrological benefits. Each bead has a different effect on you, depending on the number of mukhis it has. Each Rudraksh is very individualistic and has to be carefully matched with one's horoscope for it to be beneficial.

The seed of Rudraksh has been given a very special place and it is credited with mystical and divine properties. The botanical name of the Rudraksh plant is 'ELAEOCARPUS GRANITRUS'. This is found in the various parts of the world. It is said that the seed of Rudraksh contains the secrets of entire evolution of the cosmos within it.

The devotees of Shiva, observe forms of Shiva, Shiva-Parvati, Shivalinga etc. in Rudraksh. There are various stories regarding the origin of Rudraksh in various Puranas. Ancient scriptures like Shiva Purana, PadmaPurana, Srimad Bagwata, Rudraksh Jabbalaoapanishad, Mantra Maharnava, etc. mentioned about the greatness and wonderful properties of Rudraksh beads.
It is believed that one, who wears Rudraksh on their bodies, cannot be affected by sins. Even if, one wears Rudraksh on his body, without doing worship and saying the sacred mantra does not get near any sinful deed or thought.

The Rudraksh are worn for their specific benefits. These are much more powerful and can help achieve wonders, if energized and empowered the right way. Rudraksh of different mukha pleases the corresponding planets. It may be sufficient to go in for only for those mukha whose ruling planets, cause malefic effects. Before wearing the Rudraksh it is better to cleanse and purify it with milk, ghee, oil etc. and do pran prathista (give life to the Rudraksh) when the mantras corresponding to the mukha are chanted, the Rudraksh gets activated.

Gemstones

GEMS ‘The mines of cosmic rays’
Mankind has been always witness to the spectacular phenomenon of rainbows. A rainbow is composed of seven colors namely VIBGYOR – Violet, Indigo, Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange & Red.
The importance of seven colors has been observed in Kurma Purana (chapter 43 V-1-2) and also in the Holy Bible (chapter Genesis IX, 13 & IX 16). The spectrum is the vital part of the God’s framework of the universe.
The human body also consists of seven colors deficiency of any color will cause imbalances in the body leading to disease and other problems. This brings us to the importance of gems and precious stones as these stones are highly sensitive radioactive crystals and are perfect in filtering out the particular rays. These gemstones pick up the particular cosmic rays and transmit them into the body, as a consequence of which the body starts functioning in the right way physically and mentally.

Multiple Powers of GEMS:
Gems are being used by humans from time immemorial. Mostly gems are used for increasing wealth and longevity, for power and popularity and averting disease and disasters. Kings and ambitious people of India and abroad were advised by their prophets to collect the very best gems to protect themselves against calamities & achieve success. There are a variety of gemstones but from astrological point of view, nine precious gems ruled by the nine planets are of utmost importance. Rests of the gems are considered as the substitutes of these nine planetary gems.
  • RUBY (for SUN): It gives name, fame, vigour, warmth and capacity to command. It can raise the individual far above the status in which he has born. Historically it has been symbolic of love and passion.
  • PEARL (for MOON): Pearl strengthens mental faculties, calms emotions and increases peace of mind, It is a common custom for brides to wear pearl nose ring & necklace at the time of marriage ceremony. This is believed to ensure happy conjugal life and protection from widowhood. Pearl wearer gets vitality & wisdom.
  • RED CORAL (for MARS): The wearer of red coral becomes courageous. It helps in curing blood related disease.
  • EMERALD (for MERCURY): It improves memory, sharpens intellect, intuition, learning ability, communication and ESP. Its wearer gets sufficient wealth.

An Intro to Yantra

Yantra
Yantras are geometrical figures intended to represent the basic energies. Just as every elementary geometrical figure, a straight line, a square, a cross or a triangle etc., has a symbolic value corresponding to the basic notions, similarly, the Yantras symbolise one or the other power or energy. In other words Yantras are the graphic representations of Mantras. Yantras can be drawn, engraved or painted on a variety of substances. The classical eight tantrik surfaces are gold, silver, copper, crystal, birch (bhoj vriksha), bone, hide (which can include any type of paper), and Vishnu stone (shalagrama).

Yantras should always be used on the level. If drawn on paper the colours preferable are red, orange, yellow or a combination of these. They can be drawn to whatever size is required. The two main types of yantras are Bhu and Meru. The former is flat, two dimensional, the latter is of pyramidal form. In worship they should be placed level on a pedestal or pitha. Before any yantra is made a suitable object for puja, it must be given life (pranapratishta).

The Yantras are designed to remove the afflictions to obtain a particular result eg. to have a child, to have a positive balance in the bank, or to have the awareness to control one's temper in order to enhance one's performance at work etc. The Yantras are inscribed with the mystical inscriptions of the afflicted beneficial planets at a particularly auspicious time to suit the individual wearer. The diagrams such as circles, triangles, squares and even a 'dot' are used as Yantras. All these represent cosmic energies. A dot known as bindu in Sanskrit symbolizes all pervading space-the origin of all that exists.

The yantras shall be seen daily in the morning and one shall lit incense or lamp before the yantra every morning. It is auspicious and blesses the native with success and wealth.

What Is Vaastu Shastra...

The word vaastu means a dwelling. The term ‘Vaastu’ is basically derived from the Sanskrit word ’Vaas’ which means ‘to reside’. The Shaastra (Study) of Vaastu is called Vaastu Shastra. Vaastu is an ancient Indian science of architecture and buildings, influencing peace and prosperity for the inhabitants. Vaastu does not find its roots in Astrology but is a science that deals with the management of cosmic energy in Buildings & Structure .Vaastu can also be looked upon as an ancient mystic science for designing and building which helps us to make our lives better and in securing ourselves from things going wrong.
The knowledge has come down from the creator ‘Brahma’ through an unbroken succession of sages. Human life is affected by various forces and vaastu is one of the prime forces. Vaastu is based on five elements, i.e. water, fire, air, earth, and sky. Vaastu shastra helps in maintaining harmony among these elements. The period of miseries and sufferings will automatically vanish, if these five elements are correctly positioned at right directions.
Vaastu has been in used in India, from time immemorial. There are many historical structures that have been designed following the principles of  vaastu shastra  and are still in existence. The bases of vaastu are totally scientific, because the positive forces set scientifically. If the house is constructed by following principles of vaastu shastra, the family members will live with peace, happiness and have prosperity. On the contrary, if the house is built against the principles of vaastu, they will face lot of problems in their life.
Vaastu shastra is based on the principle of controlling two basic forces – “Positive forces” and “Negative forces”. Any architectural design either brings in some good effects or evil effects on the persons inhabiting the structure. The most important aspect of vaastu is to reduce the effect of negative forces and to increase the effect of positive forces. This helps the people staying inside the structure make their life easy and happier.
Vaastu helps in creating a harmonious atmosphere inside a building, a house, a commercial building, a business place, and in turn helps people to live happily and energetically.
According to vaastu shastra, the world comprises five basic elements known as the pancha maha bhoota. The five elements are as follows.
EARTH (Bhumi) - Earth, the third planet in order from the sun, is a big magnet with North and South poles as centers of attractions. Its magnetic field and gravitational force has considerable effects on everything on the Earth, living and non-living.
WATER (Jala) - This is represented by rain, river, sea and is in the form of liquid, solid (ice) and gas (steam, cloud). It forms part of every plant and animal. Our blood is mostly water.
AIR (Vayu) - As a life supporting element, air is a very powerful life source. Human physical comfort values are directly and sensitively dependent on correct humidity, air flow, temperature of air, air pressure, air composition and its content.
FIRE (Agni) - Represents light and heat which account for day, night, the seasons, energy, enthusiasm, passion and vigor.
SPACE (Akasha) - The akasha provides shelter to all the above elements. It is also considered the primary conductor of all energy sources within the universal context - physical energies such as sound and light, social energies such as psychological and emotional, and cognitive energies such as intellect and intuition.
There is an invisible and constant relation between all the five elements. Thus, the person can improve their conditions by properly designing their buildings by understanding the effectiveness of these five natural forces. Vaastu shastra combines all the five elements of nature and balances them with the person and the material. It takes advantage of the benefits bestowed by the five elements of nature to create a congenial living and working environment thereby facilitating spiritual well-being and paving the way for enhanced health, wealth, prosperity and happiness.
There are four categories of Vaastu
  • The earth / site – Bhoomi ,the principal dwelling place on which everything else rests
  • The structures on the earth –Prasada
  • Movable objects (vehicles)- Yaana
  • Furniture - Sayana
So, by practicing Vaastu Shastra, You can induce positive aspects conferred by your destiny and reduce the negative ones. It gives a boost to your destiny and increases your efficiency and well being.
